Skydiving in New ZealandSkydiving isn’t for the faint of heart. It takes a lot of guts to hop on a plane for the sole purpose of jumping out of it—and that’s a severe understatement.

But if you’re able to gather the courage or forego your fears, skydiving can be one of the most exhilarating moments in your entire life. And depending on where you go, it can also provide some of the most breathtaking views you’ll ever see.

Seeing as how incredibly beautiful Mother Nature can be in all corners of the world, here are some skydiving spots that fanatics or even first-timers won’t want to miss:

New Zealand
This small island-nation is one of the best places for skydiving—or any type of extreme sport for that matter. For those ready to jump out of a plane, check out Lake Wakatipu, which features incredible views of the surrounding mountains and lake below. You’ll also be right near Queenstown’s famous Kawerau Bridge, which has the world’s first bungee jump and The Ledge, which is a giant swing that operates 400 meters above ground. Or, you can go to Fox Glacier, which is a local favorite skydiving spot that includes a view of the coastline along the Tasman Sea and the snowy Southern Alps.

Switzerland
For more snow-capped mountains, head to Interlaken, Switzerland. This is a great spot for both first-timers and experienced skydivers, offering views of Italy, France, Germany, Austria, crystal-blue lakes, and the Swiss Alps.

Australia
Whether you want to go on a tandem or solo jump, skydiving at North Wollongong Beach in Sydney won’t leave you disappointed. Not only will you get a view of the gorgeous coastline, but you also have the option of landing in the water and going for a post-jump swim. Who knows, you may even see a dolphin or two!

Zambia
The Victoria Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in the world. But did you know you can skydive or bungee jump over it too? Enjoy a scenic flight and then have your breath taken away as you plunge over the waters below.

Thailand
About one hour from Bangkok, you’ll find Pattaya, which is allegedly the only full-time drop zone in Southeast Asia. Drop thousands of feet from the sky and take in a beautiful view of the western coast of Thailand.

Namibia
Change up the scenery a bit with a free fall towards the empty Namib Desert, which features incredible patterns within the sand.

The Himalayas
Why walk to the top of Mount Everest when you can see the famed mountain as you plummet 29,000 feet next to it? This is the crème de la crème of skydiving, so with this accomplishment, you’ll be ready to take on any location.

And brag about it for life.
